Nominations Sought For Dublin's Top Citizens, Organization

DUBLIN, CA – Nominations for the 2018 Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year and Organization of the Year are being accepted by the City of Dublin through Tuesday, Jan. 22 at 5 p.m.

The awards recognize outstanding individuals and groups who contributed in 2018 to the quality of life in Dublin. All nominees will be recognized, and winners will be announced at the Volunteer Recognition Event to be held at the Shannon Community Center on Wednesday, Feb. 20.

The Young Citizen of the Year recognizes the volunteer service of a Dublin youth in 1st through 12th grade.

Nominations for the awards are based on five criteria:

  • The Dublin Integrity in Action’s 10 characteristics (i.e., Responsibility, Respectfulness, Caring, Giving, Positive Attitude, Trustworthiness, Cooperation, Doing One’s Best, Honesty, and Self-Discipline);
  • Originality and uniqueness of the activity/project;
  • Overall relevance and importance to the Dublin community;
  • Time and effort spent;
  • Challenge(s) in accomplishing the activity/project.

The Organization of the Year will receive a $500 cash prize, and a $300 donation will be given to each of the Citizen and Young Citizen of the Year’s favorite non-profit organization.
