Quarry Lane Student Named 'Global Prodigy' For Environmental Work

DUBLIN, CA — A student at Dublin’s Quarry Lane School was one of 100 young people around the world recognized as a “Global Child Prodigy” thanks to her environmental activism.

Romal Mitr will attend an awards ceremony and dinner with other honorees in Dubai on Aug. 20.

  • Winning the 2021 California Youth Sustainability Award
  • Giving a TEDx Talk called “Reviving Earth’s Heartbeat Before It Flatlines”
  • Being named as 2021 International Young Eco-Hero, for which she was featured on ABC7 News
  • Being named as a “Planet Hero” by EarthX
  • Founding a youth environmental film festival called “Earth Unfiltered: Bay Area’s Environmental Youth Film Festival”
  • Creating an environmental documentary called “Climate Climax: Evergreens Don’t Stagnate”
  • Leading Quarry Lane School’s Environmental Club and launching the school’s first environmental magazine and podcast series
  • Founding an environmental initiative to fight climate change and climate change misinformation
