Reader Writes: Build A Second High School in Dublin
The community needs a high school that can accommodate at least 2,500 students.

DUBLIN, CA – LETTER TO THE EDITOR:
Dublin School district is in denial about the growth factors and failed to see simple facts and plan ahead for building new schools for middle or high school.
It is always hell bent on building elementary schools to help builders sell their homes quickly. It made decisions not to buy a land to build a second high school east and invested the money to expand existing high school.

When one looks at the pure numbers, things are very crystal clear. When there are X number of students in the elementary system the same and more number of kids turn up in high school.
When we look at the enrollment numbers from 2003 the trend is obvious, and the data proves there are the same and more kids move from elementary to high. See the attached chart.

If we look at 2003, there are 2,000 kids and in 2012 DHS had 2,500 kids in 2007-2008, in 2016, nine years later we have 2,500+ kids in high. Going by this trend, we have 6,000 kids in elementary in the current year and we will have the same or more kids in high in 2024/25.
I hope the school board looks at this data and builds a second high school in the east side. Measure H was floated with a message to counter growth and build the initial phase of the second high school.
Most of the residents voted for the biggest bond with the hope that the board will build a comprehensive high school. Board has to commit to their promise of countering growth and building the second high school which can house 2,500 kids. Numbers don't lie.
