Rotary Club Of Dublin Honors Educators Of The Year

The Rotary Club of Dublin today announced the winners of its annual Educator of the Year awards. The awards honor an educator from each of the Dublin Unified School District’s twelve schools.

The educators recognized are individuals who embody the motto of Rotary (Service Above Self) and the mission of the Dublin Unified School District (To educate every student to become a lifelong learner by providing a safe and supportive environment that fosters collective responsibility for each student’s success).

The awards, selected by staff at each site, are presented to those who demonstrate exemplary contributions to education during the school year, with an emphasis on personal efforts and active involvement in helping students succeed.

“The pandemic has tested all of us over the past year,” said, Megan Rouse, president of the Rotary Club of Dublin. “One group that has been tested more than most is our educators. Tasked with one of the most complicated and important jobs in our society, they were asked to reinvent the role of educator, without the daily in-person contact that is so critical to their success. While I want to thank all our educators for the heroic work they have done this year, it’s the Rotary Club’s pleasure to recognize a select few who stood out, even among their peers.”

• Murray Elementary School: Elizabeth Harvey
• Valley High School: Laura Droppo
• Wells Middle School: Marianne Tirnetta

Each Educator of the Year receives an honorarium from Dublin Rotary, along with certificates of recognition from the Dublin City Council, Supervisor David Haubert, Assemblymember Rebecca Bauer-Kahan, and the Rotary Club of Dublin. The recipient's names are also added to a plaque located at each school site.
