Storm-Damaged Dublin Elementary: Most Students Back In Classrooms
Buildings A and B, which are part of the school's original 1962 construction, were impacted by storm-related issues.

DUBLIN, CA — Recent rains caused water damage at Dublin Elementary and, although repair work is ongoing, classrooms are now back in service with the exception of one, according to a district official.
Buildings A and B, which are part of the school's original 1962 construction, were impacted by storm-related issues, according to Charles Dehnert, Dublin Unified School District public information and community relations officer. After repairs were made, only one 2nd grade classroom remains in a portable, and it's not immediately known when those students will return to their regular room, Dehnert said.
During a special DUSD board meeting Monday, trustees approved $33 million for repairs at Dublin Elementary — $9.2 million from Measure C and $23.8 million from the Prop 51 State Matching Funds.

A 2018 site assessment at Dublin Elementary conducted by Quattrocchi Kwok Architects found several structural problems at the campus, including decaying exterior beams and roofing. The $33 million will be used to tackle the issues, but Dehnert said a timeline for release of the funding was not yet available.
