Street Traffic: Dublin Students Walking, Rolling To School

The goal of "Walk and Roll to School" events is to encourage walking, biking, riding scooters, and taking public transportation to school.

DUBLIN, CA — The City of Dublin has proclaimed Sept. 30-Oct. 4 as "Walk and Roll to School Week," so expect to see more kids and families on the streets next week. The Dublin Unified School District, with support from the City of Dublin, Dublin Police Services, and Safe Routes to School Alameda County, will be joining schools from all over the world to celebrate the International Walk to School Week.

Most public elementary and middle schools in the Tri-Valley will be participating in this year's event on Wednesday, Oct. 2.

As part of "Walk and Roll," city staff will visit several Dublin schools on Wednesday to cheer on participating students and pass out treats or giveaways.

The goal of "Walk and Roll to School" events is to encourage walking, biking, riding scooters, and taking public transportation to school as a means of increasing physical activity among children; reducing air pollution and traffic congestion; and making the streets near our schools safer for all.

Students and parents should check with administrators at their school sites for more information on specific events planned for their "Walk and Roll to School Day" celebration.
