Swalwell Again Calls For Remote Voting

The East Bay congressman has introduced a resolution to allow remote voting in the event of emergencies in every Congress since 2013.

TRI-VALLEY, CA — East Bay U.S. Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) has again introduced a resolution to allow members of the House of Representatives to vote remotely during national emergencies.

He has introduced the resolution in every Congress since 2013, Swalwell said in a statement.

His Southern California colleague, U.S. Rep. Katie Porter (D-CA), and 65 others asked House Committee on Rules Chair James McGovern (D-MA) to at least temporarily allow remote voting.

Traveling is risky, Porter said in the statement.

More than 30 representatives have said they are self-quarantining as a precaution after encountering or possibly encountering someone with the new coronavirus.
