Third Time's the Charm for Dublin Resident at Chili Competition

The City of Dublin hosted its fourth annual chili cook-off at the farmers' market on September 10.

Dublin resident Michelle McDonald has placed in two of the popular famers’ market cooking competitions, but she has never scored a blue ribbon. Last Thursday she did.

“This was my third Dublin cook-off and I’d finished second each time, so I have to confess that I’m pretty excited to have won,” McDonald told Patch. “Everybody did a great job and I can’t wait to do it again!”

McDonald’s “Pork Tenderloin and Black Bean Slow Cooker Chili” beat out six other entries submitted by Tri-Valley residents (including a 9-year-old Dublin student with some amazing cooking skills) at the annual food competition.

The creative chili creations varied from the traditional to smoky, spicy, and tangy versions. Judges gave points to chefs based on taste and appearance.
