Tips To Be Prepared For A Public Safety Power Shutoff In City Of Dublin

During a threat of extreme weather or wildfire conditions, Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) may turn off power for a period of time as a safety precaution. A Public Safety Power Shutoff could last for several days, so residents are asked to be prepared:

• Have a personal safety plan in place for every member of your household (including pets).
• Plan for any medical needs like medications that need to be refrigerated or devices that require power.
• Build or restock your emergency supply kit, including food, water, flashlights, a radio, fresh batteries, first aid supplies, and cash.
• Identify backup charging methods for phones.
• Learn how to manually open your garage door.
• If you own a backup generator, ensure it is ready to safely operate.

The decision to turn off power could be a result of a number of factors including high winds, low humidity, dry vegetation, or a fire threat. Prior to turning off the power, PG&E will aim to alert residents.
