TRI-VALLEY, CA — California Highway Patrol officers will be hitting the streets this weekend in search of intoxicated drivers.

Dubbed Saturation Saturday, the event is in partnership with Mothers Against Drunk Driving. MADD organizes such patrols each year, in partnership with law enforcement offices nationwide.

The name comes from the law enforcement jargon phrase "saturation patrol," which refers to operations in which swaths of officers are deployed for a particular purpose.
