The Wave Hosting 'World’s Largest Swim Lesson' In Dublin

DUBLIN, CA — The Wave aquatic complex will host this year’s World’s Largest Swim Lesson later this month. Hundreds of facilities across the country will participate in the international event on June 21, which is intended to raise awareness of the importance of teaching children to swim in order to prevent drowning.

This is the The Wave’s first time participating in the annual event. The Wave joins 600 facilities in more than 20 countries to provide this service to the community. Drowning is a leading cause of accidental death in children ages 1-14.

“The City of Dublin is pleased to join the WLSL and other swim organizations throughout the world in addressing the importance of water safety,” said Dublin Mayor David Haubert. “I’m also very excited that our community will have the opportunity to be a part of a world record event.”

The event is free and limited to the first 100 people. The lesson will consist of a water safety discussion and activity along with a 30-minute swim lesson. Residents interested in attending the event must pre-register through the City of Dublin. Check-in will open at 12:15 p.m., and the event will end at 1:45 p.m. Participants are asked to arrive no later than 12:30 p.m.
