What Would You Name Dublin's Next High School? Tell The District

DUBLIN, CA — The Dublin Unified School District is seeking the public's help in naming its next high school.

The district announced this week that it agreed to shell out $38 million to acquire the privately owned lot on which it plans to build the school, between Central Parkway and Dublin Boulevard. The campus construction is estimated to cost $259 million and accommodate 2,500. The district hopes to have 1,300 of whom may start their school year there in the fall of 2022, after the first phase of construction is complete.

Now that business is almost settled, it's time to pick a name. The district has a naming committee comprised of students, staff, parents and administrators.

Here's what district policy says on names:

The Board of Education shall name or rename schools or individual buildings:

1. In recognition of individuals, living or deceased, who have made outstanding contributions to the city, community, state, or nation, or who have worldwide significance
2. To depict areas of curricular concentration or reflect special concepts or approaches to education
3. In recognition of the geographic area in which the school or building is located

Tell the district what you want to name the school by Jan. 17.
