Award-winning Elixir Trio Joins Pasadena Community Orchestra in Concert

Free concert features Beethoven's "Triple Concerto", Schubert's "Unfinished Symphony" and Beethoven's "Overture to Prometheus"

The Elixir Piano Trio, winner of the Most Distinguished Musician award at at the 2005 IBLA International Competition in Italy, and Trio-in-Residence at the Beverly Hills International Music Festival, joins the Pasadena Community Orchestra to perform Beethoven’s Triple Concerto. The orchestra, led by Music Director Bethany Pflueger, also presents Schubert’s beautiful Symphony #8 (“the Unfinished”) and Beethoven’s “Overture to The Creatures of Prometheus.” The intimate rapport of the Elixir Trio shines in the Triple Concerto, with its intricately crafted conversations among the musicians. The “Prometheus Overture” shows more of the fiery side of Beethoven. Although Schubert’s “Symphony 8” is unfinished, far from leaving audiences hungering for more, it satisfies with soaring melodies, tender slow passages, and expansive full-orchestra sounds. Audience members may meet the soloists, Music Director, and other musicians at a reception following the concert. Admission and parking are free, and no reservations are necessary. More information at www.pcomusic.org, https://www.facebook.com/pages/Pasadena-Community-Orchestra/125809577468516 and https://twitter.com/PCOrchestra.

Concerts are made possible in part by the Michael J. Connell Foundation, the Pasadena Arts & Culture Commission and the City of Pasadena Cultural Affairs Division, LA County Arts Commission, Pasadena Community Foundation, and Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts.
