Eagle Rock Neighborhood Council elections are set for October—and a training session for NC board members and stakeholders is scheduled Saturday to enhance the process.

Consider running for the Eagle Rock Neighborhood Council board in the upcoming election scheduled October 13.
The city’s Neighborhood Council system is coordinating elections this year. One region a week will be holding elections until all NCs have completed the election cycle for 2012 by the end of October.
ERNC is in Region 8, with 7 other NCs in the Northeast L.A. area. All eight neighborhood councils will be holding their own elections on the same day, Saturday, October 13, 2012.

Candidate filing will begin in August for a 30-day period. Information should be on the ERNC website soon.
This election is an opportunity for community members to work for whatever changes they consider the neighborhood needs.

Election information materials for the upcoming NC election will be available Sunday at the ERNC booth at Eagle Rock's Fourth of July celebration, which is set for Sunday, July 1, and is one of three Independence Day celebrations planned for Council District 14. The event will be from 4 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., with the fireworks show scheduled at 8:30 p.m.
EMPOWER LA Leadership Academy Training Session
A leadership training session will be held Saturday, June 30, at 10 a.m. at the Lincoln Heights Branch Library for the benefit of neighborhood council board members and stakeholders. This is one in a series being held across the city. Click here for details.
Several topics will be covered to enhance the election operations, especially outreach for candidates. Empowerment LA is the administrative department overseeing the training session. Four separate sections will be covered on Saturday to enlighten participants about the election process and how it can be improved.
B.H. Kim, general manager of Empower LA, will be present for the roundtable discussion segment and will be joined by Enrique C. Zaldivar, director of the Bureau of Sanitation.
