Blog: Emotions and How They Affect the Human Body

We carry our emotions in our bodies. To understand our emotions, it helps to learn about their physical manifestations.

The word "pathology" originates from the Greek root word "pathos," which, literally translated, means “emotions.” My teacher in Tibet used to say all diseases are emotional. Which raises the question: How do we show emotions from a disease process?

In ancient traditional medicine, emotions are linked to various organs in the human body. This correlation helps not only in identifying potential disease but also in diagnosing and treating them properly.

For example, it is said that the lungs correspond to the emotion of sorrow and loss. Thus, a sigh is a manifestation of regret or sadness. Here’s an interesting statistic: Most people who experience a severe loss, especially the death of a loved one, invariably suffer from some form of lung disorder  shortly after the loss.
