CASA Los Angeles & The Glamour Gowns Committee Bring The 3rd Annual "Day At The Races" To Help Foster Girls' Dream Come True

Volunteers, sponsors and citizens will gather for a special day at Santa Anita Park for the 3rd Annual Day at the Races

Volunteers, sponsors and citizens will gather for a special day at Santa Anita Park for the 3rd Annual Day at the Races to help young women in foster care enjoy their proms like princesses. Funds raised at the Day at the Races support the annual Glamour Gowns event, which provides hundreds of foster girls with formal gowns, shoes and accessories so they can attend their prom in style. This year’s Day at the Races will take place on Sunday, October 19 at 12:00 noon. The exciting activities include a gourmet lunch, paddock tour, raffle and live auction opportunities.

CASA LA and The Glamour Gowns Committee seek to create lasting, positive memories for milestone events like proms in the lives of young ladies who have often endured and overcome difficult circumstances.

The Day at the Races is an annual fundraising event hosted by CASA of Los Angeles and The Glamour Gowns Committee to support the annual Glamour Gowns event. Providing gowns not only allows young ladies to attend proms, but also to build self-esteem, self-confidence, and a feeling of self-worth. In 2015, The Glamour Gowns Committee will be providing suits and business attire for young males in foster care as well.

About CASA Los Angeles: Founded in 1978, CASA of Los Angeles is a community-supported 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to mobilize community volunteers to advocate on behalf of abused and neglected children in the overburdened foster care system of Los Angeles County. CASA’s vision is of a Los Angeles where every foster child has an advocate and the opportunity to thrive. Through committed, highly trained everyday citizen volunteers, CASA brings the voice of a concerned communityinto the child welfare system. Studies have shown that children with CASAs receive more assistance and support than children without, and are more likely to be adopted or returned to their families and less likely to reenter the child welfare system. About The Glamour Gowns Committee: The Glamour Gowns Committee in conjunction with CASA of Los Angeles produces the annual Glamour Gowns event, which provides formal attire to any prom aged young woman in the Los Angeles foster care system. Thus far, Glamour Gowns has provided more than 5,000 dresses to young women who may not have otherwise been able to receive them. More than 350 young ladies receive dresses each spring. Donated dresses are brand new, as are the shoes, accessories and foundationitems that each young lady receives.
