Casual clothing for an university student

In my opinion, casual clothes and boots are the most appropriate attire for a college student. My sister is looking for a good pair of boots. She goes to college in colorado so probably needs something that can handle snow, but not a snow boot. When it comes to girls stuff, I am at a loss. Any recommendations? She normally shops at urban outfitter.

Perhaps an ordinary Timberland with a rubber sole?

LL Bean Maine Hunting shoes also work, with an extra pair of socks if it's cold.

Sorel are great for the snow.

What price/category is she looking for?

Those options may be a bit outdoors-y for what it sounds like she's looking for. Perhaps something the female equivalent of the Alden Indy boot?

Thanks for the suggestions. I gave up after I concluded that her tastes were inscrutable (she's a college freshman, after all), and I think she'd given the topic no more thought than, "I need to replace these boots, which are comfortable but falling apart." I did give her a gift certificate for Urban Outfitters, which she jumped at the way I might jump at a gift certificate for Brooks. When I see her again when she's back for Xmas, I'll quiz her about the boots. She's going to school in a much snowier location and might require a bit of experience with the snow to get a better idea of what her requirements are.

I did offer her a very important pre-graduation graduation present: I told her that when the time came for her to buy adult interview clothes (I'm thinking something like an Anne Taylor pants suit), I would pay for it.
