“Taize’” services have become increasingly popular in America and are a natural outgrowth of the movement to renew the Christian contemplative tradition. The services are, at times, quiet and meditative, at times, joyous and exuberant; prayers, psalms, readings and reflections alternate with choral and organ works and the distinctive congregational music know simply as “Taize’”. The music is the province of the people, not the choir, and all are invited to join in.
