Jose Vera Gallery is pleased to be hosting a solo exhibition of the work of Joan Whitmore in Gallery X-43. The exhibit will be on view from December 3, 2011 to January 3, 2012, with an opening reception on December 10 from 6:00 pm-9:00 pm.
Joan earned a BA degree in art when she was in her early 30’s. She made and sold porcelain jewelry, hand blocked and dyed hats, and photography in both retail and arts & craft show settings. She went on to do collage art and was published in several magazines. Her work in ceramics led her to glass fusing and combining clay with glass. Having a life long interest in learning new things, in 2010, Joan started painting in oils, watercolors, pastels and encaustics. Her art can be either representational or non representational. She is affiliated with several fine art groups and has earned awards for her photography and painting.
