HEALING MEDITATION CIRCLE
Meditation Instruction and a brief period of meditation and explore mindfulness teachings.

In this group we will explore the real meaning of “healing,” as opposed to “cure.” We will look at how the uncomfortable, sometimes painful issues in our lives can be our gifts on the path of awakening to a life that is actually rich and fulfilling. Participants may include those working with long-term illness, depression or other obstacles difficult to face. There will be group discussion, as well as opportunities to explore the teachings presented. Meditation Instruction and a brief period of meditation will be part of each group meeting.
All who feel this group will be of benefit are welcome to attend. It is not necessary to be a Shambhala member or have any prior meditation experience. Based on the “Unconditional Healing” teachings by Jeff Rubin.

When illness or loss visit us, as they inevitably do, our sense of security and certainty dissolves before our very eyes. Our normal reaction is to deny and resist our experience, and behave as if there’s been some mistake. This attitude inevitably makes a bad situation worse, increases our suffering, and makes healing more difficult. However, if we are willing to look inward and gently open ourselves during these times of feeling so vulnerable and uncertain, we may be surprised to find that our intrinsic tenderness, insight and strength awaken and deepen in the midst of our predicament. In other words, our difficulties can serve as a doorway into who we truly are, and a more expansive way of viewing ourselves and the world.
Jeff Rubin is a senior teacher in the Shambhala Buddhist tradition, and has directed meditation-based workshops for over thirty years. See also unconditionalhealing.org.
