Is Your Life Aligned?

You know those times in your life when you feel like everything is just...flowing...? You're getting those random calls for your work, running into exactly the person you were just thinking about at Trader Joe’s, your work is flowing out of you like some mysterious switch has been gone on inside you…and there's a part of you that keeps sitting back, observing, going "Whoa, what is happening? This is COOL!"? 

And then the next week it's like that never happened. You're in a rut, you're stuck, you feel isolated, tired, Mercury has GOT to be in retrograde for this crap to start happening and pretty soon you're wondering if last week was a fluke or a dream or...what...?

What if I told you that YOU are actually in control of creating that space for yourself - that zone, that flow - any day of the week, any week of the year?

Humans are all finely tuned antennas capable of picking up just the right frequencies for our individual success IF we hone and aim our antennas just right. It is when we are in alignment with our highest and best selves that things seem to unfold like magic - coincidences occur, creative juices flow, clients start calling. My guess is you've seen evidence of this in your own life. Take a minute to think back to when things were going their best in your life and ask yourself what state you were in. Now consider that YOU were actually the source of that flow, not the accidental receiver of it.

Now consider when things have been at their worst. Ask yourself what state you were in at that time as well.

When things are really difficult, when things seem like brick walls going up all around you, consider taking a step back and instead of trying to force the DOING, breathe into some BEING.

Here are 6 Daily Success Habits that will help hone your own personal antenna and get you into the zone.

1.   Meditate – daily meditation allows you some space to breathe, think and just chill out. If you’ve never meditated before, just sit quietly for 15 minutes (set a timer) with your eyes closed and don’t fall asleep.  Period. Allow whatever thoughts come to just be. Don’t control your breathing or your thoughts. Just be quiet for 15 minutes. You can work up to something bigger or more lofty later if you want to.

2.   Journal – even one page per day will allow some of your jumbled thoughts somewhere to land.

3.   Make a Gratitude List – 10 things you’re grateful for in this moment. Could just be that your liver is working well enough to process the wine you drank last night, or your child’s laughter…

4.   Do Facial Aerobics – It’s been proven that people who smile are happier. Here’s an excerpt from a blog on Psychology Today by Sarah Stevenson:

“For starters, smiling activates the release of neuropeptides that work toward fighting off stress (3). Neuropeptides are tiny molecules that allow neurons to communicate. They facilitate messaging to the whole body when we are happy, sad, angry, depressed, excited. The feel good neurotransmitters dopamine, endorphins and serotonin are all released when a smile flashes across your face as well (4). This not only relaxes your body, but it can lower your heart rate and blood pressure.

The endorphins also act as a natural pain reliever - 100% organically and without the potential negative side effects of synthetic concoctions (4).

Finally, the serotonin release brought on by your smile serves as an anti-depressant/mood lifter (5). Many of today’s pharmaceutical anti-depressants also influence the levels of serotonin in your brain, but with a smile, you again don’t have to worry about negative side effects – and you don’t need a prescription from your doctor.”

5.   Create an “Incantation” – this is where I get all Tony Robins on you, but let’s face it, the man is crazy successful and that’s what we all want, isn’t it? Write yourself a brief statement about how awesome and amazing and successful you are and repeat it to yourself in the mirror every day until you believe it. You won’t believe how powerful this can be.

6.   Get 30-90 Minutes of Physical Exercise – every day. Endorphins. Just do it.
