(Participants walk together as one united whole, like the different parts of a crocodile.) 2. Find out just how physically fit you are—and never mind if you’ve been pumping iron, running or playing basketball all your life. Pay a visit this morning—or come by in the evening—to , where you can learn all about creating length and tone in your muscles, as opposed to bulk. (Unlike most fitness regimes that tend to overwork muscles that are already strong—at the expense of weaker muscles that contribute to injuries because they’re untrained—Pilates focuses on muscles that are weak and tight.) From 10-11 a.m. today, Pilates Eagle Rock is offering a class—by appointment only—in “gyrokinesis,” an exercise system based on elements of yoga, dance, swimming and martial arts. Today is the only day of the week this class is offered—but don’t despair if you can’t or won’t go: There’s a Pilates mat class from 7 p.m.-8 p.m. for just $15. Click here for more information. 2002 Colorado Blvd., 323-254-4444.

4. After all that Anglophone glitz at the Oscars last night, inject a little Latin flair into your Monday. The studio will show you how. First, at 6:30 p.m., there's a half-hour introductory salsa class for only $5. Then, at 7 p.m., there's an hour-long "level 1" salsa for $10, followed by another hour-long Latin Workout, which is more cardio-oriented than technical, for $10 as well. Ballroom Blitz is located at 4878 Eagle Rock Blvd. Call 323-258-0029 or visit their site for more information.
5. Speaking of matters Latin—or Latino, to be precise—here’s a bit of “Today in History” trivia for you: California Supreme Court Justice Carlos Moreno, the only Democrat currently on the court, steps down from the court today after nearly 10 years there. Why should we care, other than his aforementioned political affiliation? Moreno once lived in Eagle Rock—according to the Eagle Rock Valley Historical Society—and as they say, once an Eagle Rocker always an Eagle Rocker!
