East Palo Alto Teen Caught Red-Handed In SMC Burglary, Police Say

Sheriff's officials say a second suspect got away in the case.

SAN CARLOS, CA — An 18-year-old East Palo Alto resident was jailed early Tuesday after he was allegedly caught burglarizing a San Carlos neighborhood. Officials said the teen was caught following a brief chase — but his alleged accomplice got away.

At around 2:32 a.m., sheriff's officials were called to the 700 block of Elm Street for a report of "two males looking into vehicles with flashlights," the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office said.

Responding deputies spotted two men leaving the backyard of a local property.
