Elderly East Palo Alto Man Hit, Left On Roadway: Police
Police say an elderly man was hospitalized in serious condition with a head wound following a hit-and-run in nearby Menlo Park.

EAST PALO ALTO, CA — Menlo Park police are looking for whomever hit an elderly man in town and left him lying on the roadway with serious injuries. Officials say the victim, a 71-year-old East Palo Alto man, was found "lying in the roadway suffering from injuries to his arm, feet and head" late Tuesday night.
At around 10:24 p.m. Tuesday, police were called to a traffic crash involving a pedestrian on University Avenue, just east of the railroad crossing, officials said in a news release. When they got to the scene, they found the man on the ground. He was taken to Stanford Hospital, where he was listed in serious condition.
"At the time of the officers' arrival, there were several passing motorists on scene who reported that the car that struck the victim was not on scene when they arrived to render aid," police said.

Officers found debris in the area that belonged to the suspect vehicle, which was later identified as a 2000-2006 gray BMW X5 SUV, police said.
