Food-Drive Donation Reminder Worth Noting: Don't Forget The Pets!

EAST PALO ALTO, CA — The Ecumenical Hunger Program, a Peninsula-based nonprofit, is working this holiday season to provide food and gifts to those in need East Palo Alto, Palo Alto, Menlo Park and surrounding communities.

But strikingly new during this year's pandemic: more calls for pet food as struggling families also are struggling to feed their cats and dogs, according to the Palo Alto Humane Society.

After PAHS learned that the Ecumenical Hunger Program in East Palo Alto was receiving more calls for pet food this year, the organization ordered and donated 70 bags, about $2,500 in value, of pet food to EHP for its pet-owning clientele in need of aid, according to staff.

Those wishing to donate pet food to EHP can do so at its headqurters at 2411 Pulgas Ave. in East Palo Alto. Locals interested in supporting the charity as it provides for low-income neighbors, can follow this link for more information.

Founded in 1975, the Ecumenical Hunger Program's mission is to "provide compassionate, dignified and practical assistance to families and individuals experiencing economic and personal hardship."
