Women ID'd In Deadly East Palo Alto Double Shooting

EAST PALO ALTO, CA — Two women who were found dead from gunshot wounds in an East Palo Alto home have been publicly identified. The pair were found Wednesday in an apparent murder-suicide, according to police.

The women were identified as 50-year-old Heather Lauren Downs and 57-year-old Selene Kalista Makarios. Both were East Palo Alto residents.

East Palo Alto police Cmdr. Jeff Liu said officers responded at 9:26 a.m. Wednesday to a call of a shooting inside a home in the 2200 block of Tuscany Court and arrived to find the women. He said there does not appear to be any suspects at large in the case.

Menlo Park Fire Protection District crews pronounced the women dead at the scene.

Additional details surrounding the deaths was not immediately available.
