Adios El Conq! A Farewell Celebration for El Conquistador

Adios El Conq!

Please join the Silver Lake community and El Conquistador lovers everywhere for a farewell commemoration of this very special Mexican restaurant. The event will be held on Sunday, Dec. 15, 2 – 3 pm, at the Polka-Dot Plaza just across from El Conquistador (3701 Sunset Blvd., 90026), at the intersection of Edgecliffe Dr. and Griffith Park Blvd.

The occasion of course will be bittersweet, as El Conq (as the place is fondly known), which closes its doors for good on Dec. 22 after 40 years, has become a Silver Lake institution. It earned this distinction not only from its great food and the best Margaritas in town, but also from the festive atmosphere and joyous spirit created by its owners, Jesse Pinto and Alberto Curiel, and its loyal personnel, many of whom have been there for decades.

Representatives of the 13th and 4th council districts will present Jesse and Alberto with a certificate of appreciation. There will be live music, a chance for El Conq patrons to express their gratitude (and sadness), and afterwards, one can cross the street and experience all that El Conq has to offer for one of the very last times.

Please come and show Jesse and Alberto how much you appreciate all they’ve done for you and the community over the years, and how much we’ll miss them!
