'Apple' Snails Taking Over Echo Park Lake

What do you think of the apple snails that are laying colorful pink eggs all over Echo Park Lake? While they add a bit of color during the winter months, they may be killing off the beautiful lotus plants.

The hungry animals are fresh water snails from South and Central America.

KTLA reports that the small animals may have arrived during the restoration last year when the wetlands were replanted.

And we soon see a lot more of them too. Each egg sack holds about 500 eggs and they have no natural enemy, it reported.
