Authors Worth Celebrating: Laurie David, Author of "The Family Cooks"

MEET LAURIE DAVID & KIRSTIN UHRENHOLDT

Join us as we celebrate their new book, "The Family Cooks", the follow up to their first collaboration, "The Family Dinner". "The Family Cooks" prioritizes getting easy, nutritious, home cooked meals back in the kitchen -- a struggle for parents. Laurie is also a Producer of documentary films, including Academy Award-winner, "An Inconvenient Truth", and her latest documentary, "Fed Up", which she co-Produced with Katie Couric.

Laurie and Kirstin will walk us through four courses (both vegan and non-vegan) from their latest book and engage in a Q&A.

MENU - Served Family Style
Appetizer
Quinoa Cakes with roasted pepper sauce

Second course
Chopped Salad with romaine lettuce, chickpeas, tomato, cucumber, red cabbage, carrot and 1/1/1 vinaigrette

Third Course
Balsamic chicken with wilted greens,
mushrooms and barley
or
Laurie’s Pot Of Gold with house made vegan sausage, wilted greens, white beans & rustic bread

Dessert
Almond Cake, fresh plums
whipped coconut cream

The "Authors Worth Celebrating" series at Mohawk Bend is a monthly event spotlighting authors who share Mohawk Bend's community values. With inspiration from the guest author, Chef Erick Simmons creates a delicious multi-course meal for attendees to enjoy while they get to know the monthly guest author, and the inspiration for their books, through robust conversation. Past authors featured include Joseph Shuldiner, Isa Chandra Moskowitz, and Tal Ronnen.
