BACK TO SCRAPS is a writing group lead by Jen Hitchcock. Jen worked in the past as a freelance writer, most notably as a music journalist. She has been published by the LA Weekly, Tattoo Savage, Razorcake and a multitude of other publications, including her own self-published fanzine ZYZXX. Most recently she wrote the script for a comedic webseries called Ninety Something.

Jen on the origins of BACK TO SCRAPS:
“A few years ago I realized that even though I identified as a writer, I rarely sat down TO write, my energies caught up with work and being a mom. I was no longer doing something that I had done all my life–jotting down ideas inspired by things seen, heard, felt throughout my day on whatever was handy at the time… gum wrappers, torn pieces of notebook paper, the back of my hand. I felt a strong need to get back to that headspace and get back to writing, even if it was just a few inspired sentences on scraps of paper…So, I started Back To Scraps three years ago as a means to etch out much needed time to get together with other creative people and work on filling our notebooks with writing ideas.”
