Music Photographer Struck In Hit&Run Then Killed By DUI Suspect

Police are seeking a driver who hit a well-known indie music photographer leaving him to be killed by a suspected drunk driver in Echo Park.

ECHO PARK, CA — Investigators Monday sought the public's help in identifying a driver who took off after colliding with a motorcyclist who was then hit by another vehicle near Echo Park and died at the scene.

The fatality occurred about 2 a.m. Sunday on the southbound Golden State (5) Freeway approaching the Glendale (2) Freeway interchange.

The initial collision threw the rider -- identified by the coroner's office as 25-year-old Emery Becker of Los Angeles -- from his 2014 Triumph. He got to his feet and was standing in the No. 3 lane when he was struck by a 2016 Toyota driven by Alexandra Silva, 22, of Los Angeles, who was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence or alcohol or drugs and vehicular manslaughter, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Becker was a well-known photographer among Los Angeles' indie music scene, according to news reports.

The hit-and-run vehicle was described as a dark-colored sedan that had been weaving in and out of lanes prior to swerving into the path of the motorcycle, the CHP reported.

Anyone with information about the collision or the at-large suspect was urged to call the CHP at (213) 744-2331 to speak with the investigating officer.
