Driver Injured in Freeway Car Fire

A person was injured when their vehicle overturned and burst into flames on the transition road from the northbound Golden State (5)  Freeway to the southbound Glendale (2) Freeway near the Silver Lake District early Sunday, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The incident was reported at 2:51 a.m., said Officer Cheyenne Quesada in the Traffic Management Center.

The vehicle was on fire with the person inside when firefighters arrived, Quesada said. They transported the victim to a hospital for treatment.

The CHP issued a SigAlert for the transition road for about 1:40 during the accident clean-up and investigation.
