Echo Park Rape/Burglary Suspect Surrenders To Police
Police arrested a 22-year-old man suspected of breaking into a sleeping woman's Echo Park apartment and raping her.
LOS ANGELES, CA — Days after publicly releasing surveillance footage of an Echo Park rapist, police arrested a 22-year-old Los Angeles man suspected in the attack, authorities announced Tuesday. The man turned himself into police on Friday.
Police believe Andres Pascual broke into an Echo Park woman's apartment while she was sleeping, burglarized her home and raped her before fleeing. Pascual allegedly entered the victim's apartment building in the 1800 block of Sunset Boulevard through the fire escape at about 5 a.m. on Nov. 5, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. He pried open the woman's bedroom window and sexually assaulted her as she slept, police said.
"The suspect is unknown to the victim," according to an LAPD statement. "The victim woke up and pushed him away. After the assault, the suspect exited through the front door."
