El
Cid, continuing its celebration of 50 years of Flamenco, presents LA’s most exciting and authentic
Flamenco dancers and musicians every Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings.
El Cid,
the venerable Spanish-inspired restaurant and live music venue, located in Los
Angeles’ Silver Lake Sunset Junction neighborhood brings these highly exciting performances filled with
dynamic rhythms from internationally and locally recognized artists.
November 8 and 15 – Special flamenco event with special guest dancers
from LA Opera’s recent production of Carmen
with Misuda Cohen and Richard Chavez, along with singer Antonio
de Jerez and guitarist Kai Narezo.
Angelita Concierto
Flamenco is an El
Cid original. El Cid is excited to have Angelita back to perform traditional
Flamenco where members of her Flamenco dance company will join her. Special guest, one of the original owners of
El Cid, Juan Talavera will perform with Angelita and singer Antonio de Jerez on
Friday, November 29 and again on Saturday, November 30 with Angelita and singer
Reyes on Saturday. Witness the classic style of pure
flamenco dance in an environment reminiscent of its heritage.

Noche en Triana features Antonio Triana and special guests. The
cuadro flamenco forms on stage against a backdrop of drumming handclaps, a
voice moans the cante jondo, that pure essence of Andalusian song. Dancers
strike the tablao with thundering footwork. Tension mounts as the performers
unleash their fiery improvisations to the compelling rhythms of the guitar.
This is the native art of Triana, where flamenco has a long tradition, where
rhythm is life.
