El Cid, the venerable bar/restaurant/nightclub, located in Los Angeles’ Silver Lake Sunset Junction neighborhood, celebrates its 50th year as the premiere venue for Flamenco Dinner Shows as well as a popular spot for enjoying Brunch, Tapas on the outdoor Patio, Happy Hour, and well-known Nightclub, has added a new and exciting vibe to their entertainment lineup with Tapas Tuesday Jazz Nights with the Sir Sultry Quintet every Tuesday evening from 8 – 11 pm. Performing original compositions, Sir Sultry Quintet is a mix of jazz influenced from world music, flamenco, and blues.
Ethan Margolis, director of Arte y Pureza Flamenco Dance Company teams up with the El Cid Dinner Theater in Silver Lake to present jazz/world music every Tuesday night. The Sir Sultry Quintet boasts an impressive lineup of accomplished jazz and world music artists. Featured musicians include saxophonist/flautist Katisse Buckingham (credits: Herbie Hancock, Prince); bassist Ric Fierabracci (credits: Chick Corea, Tom Jones); percussionist Chris Wabich (credits: Sting, Stanley Jordan); and guitarist/musical director Ethan Margolis of Arte y Pureza Flamenco Company. The result of Margolis' creation is an array of astounding rhythmic flurries, beautifully tasteful melodic lines and addictive grooves.

Margolis has garnered reviews from press around the world for his compositions and stage productions. In April of 2013 he sold out Hollywood's Fountain Theatre two consecutive nights in a row for his production of Soleangeles performed by the Sir Sultry Quintet. Margolis lived in Seville, Spain for 11 years and toured extensively throughout the world with his flamenco company Arte y Pureza. Sir Sultry, his jazz/world music quintet, features many of Los Angeles’ most prominent jazz and session players and fuses elements of jazz, world, flamenco, Latin, and blues. Soleangeles is also the title of Sir Sultry’s about to be released CD.

Admission to Tapas Tuesday Jazz Nights at El Cid is $5 and there are all night specials on tapas and sangria. There is no cover charge to sit on the patio.
