Regarding the front page story "Locos no longer locals," Although City Attorney, Mike Feuer, did address the Greater Echo Park Elysian Neighborhood Council on the subject of supporting a gang injunction, the council soon afterwards voted against the injunction. Seeing through the thinly veiled attempt by developers to market the community as "hipster-ready" to potential condo buyers, the council was convinced that the injunction held great harm for potential racist sweeps and guilt-by-association actions. Many 2nd and 3rd generation Echo Park families with members who may have been formerly associated with gangs, sometimes as children, have been impacted by the injunction. But development always wins.
