L.A. Works is a 501(c)3 nonprofit, volunteer action center that creates and implements hands-on community service projects throughout the greater Los Angeles area. For the past 20 years, we have put on our annual L.A. Works Day of Service bringing out 1,000s of community volunteers, corporations and nonprofits to beautify and maintain a variety of areas of our city. This year, we're excited to be offering two volunteer opportunities to take part in. Our 3rd Annual Service Crawl and a stationary school project.
About the Service Crawl
This summer corporate and community volunteers will explore the heart of LA's urban core as they join together for a transformative day of service. Teams of volunteers will race through Downtown Los Angeles for our third annual Service Crawl, completing significant service projects at shelters, youth programs, missions, food banks, libraries, schools, parks and parklets, and other nonprofit organizations that serve the members of our community. At each site, the teams will learn about the mission of the nonprofit and the challenges it and its clients face. After providing valuable hands-on support to the organization, the team will solve a clue to unlock the location of their next volunteer project. The teams will be racing for exciting prizes like airline tickets, hotel stays, restaurant gift cards and more! Corporate sponsored teams will be eligible for special prizes and perks!!
About the Stationary School Project
For our volunteers and corporate sponsors who prefer to transform a single nonprofit site, hundreds of the L.A. Works Day participants will have the option to roll up their sleeves and paint, plant, landscape and build as they work together to revitalize the grounds of a downtown LAUSD Title I Elementary School. This project provides great benefit to the community as research shows that children learn better in an environment that they can feel proud of and comfortable in.
