Silverlake band THE TITLE TRACKERS Launch PledgeMusic campaign with Inaugural Performance
SILVERLAKE CA – Three veterans of the Los Angeles music scene have launched a musical parody project called Lost Title Tracks that pays homage to and pokes loving fun at their heroes, including The Rolling Stones, U2, Tom Petty, and many others.
Andy Hill, David Tokaji, and Russell Wiener have written and recorded mock title tracks for legendary albums that do not possess one. A title track is a song whose title is the same as the album on which it appears. While many albums have title tracks (Let It Be, Born to Run), many do not (Exile on Main Street, The Joshua Tree).
“For each song, we asked ourselves the question, ‘what might the title track have sounded like had one been written,’” said project co-founder Russell Wiener.
The record was recorded in the Silverlake and Glassell Park neighborhoods of Los Angeles.
The three artists, who go by the name The Title Trackers, will launch their project fundraising campaign on PledgeMusic.com on April 6, (running through June 6th) with an in-store performance at a Southern California vinyl shop. Fans will be able to pre-purchase the album (digital or vinyl) through PledgeMusic and have the opportunity to purchase exclusives like a house concert with the band, a custom-written title track of their choosing, and many more.
The project has already garnered praise from prominent figures in the rock community, including legendary producer and artist Alan Parsons. “I think the concept is brilliant,” says Parsons, “and these songs are really good.”
The Title Trackers altered the song titles to amp up the parody element, but any fan of classic rock will recognize the albums being spoofed in titles like “Welcome to the EXILE ON MAIN STREET,” “Chopping Down the JOSHUA TREE,” “Checking in to the MORRISON HOTEL,” and seven other songs that “the original artists forgot to write,” as The Title Trackers jokingly put it.
Disclaimer: the project has no affiliation with, nor is it endorsed by, any of the artists being parodied, nor their labels or publishers.
