Suspected Drunk Driver Slams into LAPD Car, 3 Hurt

Two officers and a driver, who was later arrested on suspicion of drunken driving, were hurt in a crash in North Hills.

Two Los Angeles police officers were injured in North Hills early this morning when their SUV was struck by a suspected drunk driver, whose car also hit some parked vehicles and rolled onto its side, authorities said.

The crash was reported about 2:30 a.m. in the 9500 block of Sepulveda Boulevard, near Plummer Street, police said.

Video from the scene showed the police SUV with major front-end damage and its airbags deployed.

The officers sustained cuts and bruises, they and the man who was driving the car that hit their SUV were taken to a hospital, according to an officer with the Los Angeles Police Department's Valley Traffic Division.

The extent of the motorist's injuries were not available, but he was subsequently arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, the officer said.
