Tuesday - Here in the neighborhood, at , one of my favorite new-ish local bands, The Allah-Las, continue their month-long residency. Support this week includes Farmer Dave, The Tyde, Tomorrows Tulips and DJ Wesley. Bonus: It's free.
Wednesday - Mavis Staples, Robert Cray & Keb’ Mo’ @ The Hollywood Bowl.
Low End Theory: Daedelus @ The Airliner - Underground hip hop, grime and dubstep rule at the Low End Theory's weekly night at the Airliner. As the nights popularity has grown over the past 18 months (see: Thom Yorke's 'secret' DJ sets) so have the lines. Get there early. Experimental music producer Daedelus is this week's attraction.
Thursday - Start your night off right with one of my favorite country troubadours working today, Robert Ellis. He's performing (for free) at at 5:00 PM. This is a chance to catch a rising star in an informal and intimate atmosphere.
Afterwards grab a slice next door at Two Boots before making it over to The Echo for LA Font with The Dead Ships and Terraplane Sun.

Down the road, $7 gets you into The Bootleg Theater for Incan Abraham, Tennis System and Flora and Fauna.
Friday - Literary indie pop/rock rules at The Greek Theatre Friday night with The Decemberists and Wye Oak. While the main act will fill the seats, those in the know will get their early for emerging Merge Records artist Wye Oak.
Over at the Bootleg Theater Junip gigs with Beware of Safety. Yes, Junip is the Swedish group featuring buzzy torubadour José González along with Elias Araya and Tobias Winterkorn.
Metal-heads gone acoustic duo, Rodrigo y Gabriela, headline at the Hollywood Bowl with Los Amigos Invisibles. I imagine they do a mean "Orion."
Saturday - Night one of pernenial French favorites (singing in Spanish) the Gipsy Kings @ the Greek Theatre.
At the Satellite in Silver Lake The Henry Clay People gig with The Get Up Kids. I couldn't tell you anything abou the headliner, but HCP remain one of the most fun rock shows going in LA.
Sunday - Head over to and for the Roots Roadhouse Festival. The Sadies, Old Man Markley, Mike Stinson, Big Sandy & His Fly-Rite Boys, Eilen Jewell, Jesse Sykes & Phil Wandscher, Dawn Landes, Jackshit, Nikki Lane, etc. $18 gets you in the door for what should prove to be a great day/night of music. Doors at 3pm.
