Video: Man Shoved In Front Of Truck In Unprovoked Attack

Investigators are trying to understand why a man shoved a passerby in front of a truck in a unprovoked attack in Downtown LA.

LOS ANGELES, CA — A man suffered critical injuries Wednesday when he was shoved in front of a box truck in a horrific and unprovoked Downtown Los Angeles attack. The entire incident was captured on video, leaving the community shaken and bewildered.

It happened we at about 10:45 a.m. in the 300 block of West Sixth Street, near Broadway, said Los Angeles Police Department Officer Mike Lopez. The victim was walking down the street heading passed another man sitting on a chair in front of a restaurant. In an instant, the attacker rises from his chair and shoves the pedestrian into the path of an oncoming truck. He leaves his victim partially trapped under the front wheel of the truck and walks off. The pedestrian, a man in his 60s, was rushed to the hospital in critical condition with a collapsed lung and broken bones, Lopez said.

Surveillance video aired by ABC7 showed the suspect was a man wearing a lime green hooded jacket. On Wednesday evening firefighters recognized the alleged attacker at about 6:45 p.m. in the area of Third and Hill streets. He was taken into custody, Lopez said.
