Video: Rob Zabrecky Show Delights Steve Allen Theater

Magician and offbeat-performer Rob Zabrecky, a staple at the famous Magic Castle club in Hollywood, headlined a thoroughly entertaining show at the Steve Allen Theater last Wednesday to a packed crowd.

The night opened with a short but sweet musical set by Liberty Larsen & Shayne Eastin. The duo complemented their lyrically-amusing songs with quirky introductions that set the tone for the evening.  

Next up was Imaginary Bear, a twisted puppet show and slide show starring a gay, substance-abusing plush toy telling a So-Cal tale of self acceptance. Tanya Haden and Sara T. Russell were the masterminds behind this act, which touched on rehab and true friendships. The comedic timing was pitch-perfect to the point where just saying "Pasadena" got a laugh.

Then, Rob Zabrecky took the stage, grabbed the audience by the collar and led them on a trip of his own design. Storytelling, dance and magic took turns during the hour-long show that seemed to exist in a parallel universe.
