Weekend Live Music Options
Fireworks with Hall & Oates, Love Grenades and others make for an explosive holiday weekend.
Friday: The Rosebuds / Other Lives @ The Satellite ($12)
Touring behind their new LP, Loud Planes Fly Low, The Rosebuds return to L.A. to perform tracks from what may be their most inventive, inspired, and honest record to date. This, the band's most melancholic record, ironically, also feels like their most cohesive effort. Following the release of 2008's Life Like, the relationship that inspired the group in the first place came to an end leaving the pair to decide whether to call it a day or push forward. Thankfully, the chose the latter.
Jessica 6 / Love Grenades / Vice Cooler @ The Echo ($10)
Here in Echo Park, presents Brooklynites Jessica 6 as they deliver their brand of nu-disco and indie r&b along with locals Love Grenades and Vice Cooler. Downstairs at the Echoplex things take a different turn as indie rock veterans Blonde Redhead take the stage with buzzbands the Luyas and Fat Possum Records artist Bass Drum of Death. Bring yer earplugs. ($25)

Saturday: 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular with Hall & Oates @ Hollywood Bowl ($18 - $168)
This is where I plan to be Saturday night, at the Bowl taking in overpriced beers, fireworks, and a crowd full of people sporting fake mustaches in honor of the main event: Hall & Oates. "Rich Girl," "I Can't Go For That," "Maneater." Yes, all you faves (and more!) will likely get played while you gaze at these gents on the jumbotron. Really, what more could you ask for in a Saturday night?

Sunday: 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular with Hall & Oates @ Hollywood Bowl ($18 - $168)
Ok, so the above goes double for Sunday night too.
