Woman Wounded in Silver Lake Officer-Involved Shooting

A woman underwent surgery after she was shot during a possible barricade situation in Silver Lake Monday afternoon.

LOS ANGELES, CA — A woman was wounded in an officer-involved shooting in Silver Lake Monday after police were responded to a report of an armed woman.

The woman was rushed to a nearby hospital where she underwent surgery. Details of condition remain unknown. Similarly, police have released few details about the incident.

Officers were called to the area of Sunset Boulevard and Edgecliffe Drive at about 3:30 p.m. to investigate a report of a woman with a gun, according to Officer Mike Lopez of the Los Angeles Police Department's Media Relations Section. Police arrived on scene, and more than an hour later she was shot.

The woman was reportedly combative and had barricaded herself in a room.

No officers were injured, Lopez said. A firearm was recovered at the scene, he said.
