2016 Getting Ready for College Conference
For 10th, 11th, and 12th graders and their parents

This year’s Getting Ready for College Conference will be held on Saturday, October 29th from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Richmond Memorial Auditorium and Convention Center at 403 Civic Center Plaza in Richmond. This free conference is open to all 10th, 11th and 12th graders and their parents throughout the West Contra Costa Unified School District. Students and parents will learn about college life from former WCCUSD students and how to make college a reality by participating in workshops on Personal Statement Writing, How to Be Competitive for College, and Choosing Your Best Fit College. Applications for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the CA Dream Act Application are being accepting for the first time this year starting October 1st and students will have the opportunity to complete their financial aid applications at the conference.
Graduating WCCUSD seniors will be eligible for two $500 scholarships that will be raffled off at the end of the conference.
The event is hosted jointly by the Ed Fund, City of Richmond, West Contra Costa Unified School District, WriterCoach Connection, and the West County College Access Network, a consortium of 25+ organizations dedicated to increasing the number of college-bound students in the district.
