BAY AREA, CA — Police closed an East Bay BART station after officials found a deceased passenger found on the concourse Monday.
Officials found the person at about 12:36 p.m. at the El Cerrito Plaza BART station Monday, prompting officials to close the station while police investigated, according to reports.
Authorities did not immediately release additional information about the person or the circumstances surrounding the death. But police reported no initial indications the foul play was involved, the East Bay Times reported.
BART closed the station while police investigated and waited for the coroner's bureau to respond. The station reopened at about 2:10 p.m., and normal service resumed, according to reports.
During the closure, trains bypassed El Cerrito Plaza, but BART said Red and Orange Line service was not otherwise affected.
AC Transit provided bus service between the El Cerrito Plaza and El Cerrito del Norte stations while the station remained closed.
