Bay Area Sutter Health Nurses Hold May 1 Strike

Join thousands of Bay Area RNs who are holding a one-day strike on May 1 — May Day.

The nurses are standing up against the wealthy Sutter Health Corporation that’s demanding more than 100 cuts in patient care and nursing standards.

The strike starts at 7 a.m., Tuesday, May 1 and ends at 6:59 a.m., Wednesday, May 2.

Picket lines begin at 7 a.m., Tuesday, May 1.

The walkout will take place at Alta Bates Summit Medical Center facilities in Berkeley and Oakland, Mills-Peninsula Health Services hospitals in Burlingame and San Mateo, Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley, San Leandro Hospital, Sutter Delta in Antioch, Sutter Solano in Vallejo, Novato Community Hospital, and Sutter Lakeside.

Rallies will be held:
Alta Bates Campus - 11 a.m.
Summit Campus - 1 p.m.
Eden Campus - 12 Noon
San Leandro Campus- 3 p.m.*
Peninsula Campus - 2 p.m.
Sutter Delta - 12 p.m.
Sutter Solano - 11 a.m.
Sutter Lakeside -3 p.m.

*Additionally, Sutter is set to announce the closure of San Leandro Hospital. After the San Leandro rally, there will be a 4 p.m. Town Hall meeting to talk about the closure. The Town Hall meeting will take place at 13909 E. 14th Street, San Leandro (adjacent to the hospital.)

The greedy hospital giant — that made $4 billion in profits since 2007 — is proposing takeaways that could put patients in danger. Sutter is doing this and slashing health services while it doles out millions to its top executives.

Hear from the Bay area nurses in California on why they going on strike against Sutter Health on May 1. The strike will impact around 4,500 RNs who work at Sutter hospitals.
