Oakland-based fine artist Karen LeGault will show and talk about her artwork at the February 6th, 2015 Pinole Artisan general meeting. Karen began drawing and painting in 1967, and has been painting professionally since 1993. After completing her first major body of award-winning oil and watercolor paintings by age 20, Karen spent many years exploring and experimenting in varied areas, including fabric design, photography, video and graphics.
You can see more of Karen’s work on her website: http://www.karenlegault.com/ and her blog: https://karenlegault.wordpress.com/ . She posts information about her shows on her Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Karen-LeGault-Art-Studio-Hydrangea-Studio/164476730230869
Karen’s artist statement beautifully expresses her passion about her work: “I love to work from the world around me, to immerse myself in natural surroundings, to engage with a single flower or plant, to place myself in a bowl of fruit or walk like an ant or fly like a bird or bee among objects on a table, to feel the swimming through a cool substantial water. It is physical. I need to feel and smell the places I engage with. My brush feels the subjects into the paintings.”
