These awards are made directly to the recipients’ music teachers to be applied to their lessons. Winners may win only twice. Length of study: Min 2 years w/ same teacher.

There will also be three runners-up chosen and they will receive $40 to purchase music or supplies. Running-up does not count against a win total; runners-up must play at the concert. By auditioning, you agree to play in the concert if you ‘run-up’.

The piece chosen for the competition must be classical and performance at the audition must not exceed 5 minutes. The entire piece, however, may be longer. (Student will be cut off after 5 minutes). Memorization, presentation, and stage professionalism are rewarded.

Entrants must live WITHIN the West Contra Costa Unified School District and must be in middle or high school (but not necessarily within the WCCUSD).

In order to receive these awards, the winners and the runners-up must agree to perform at the Club Mendelssohn Guest Day on Thursday, Apr 28, 2016 at 3 p.m.

Applications may be requested from the Scholarship Chairman (see above).
APPLICATION RECEIPT DEADLINE: Thursday, April 7, 2016 (postmarked by 1 Apr).
AUDITIONS will be Thursday, April 14, 2016 at 3:30 p.m. at Richmond First United Methodist Church, 201 Martina St. (at West Richmond Ave., Pt. Richmond).

Instrumentalists and vocalists of middle school and high school age are encouraged to apply. Music teachers, please encourage your students to apply. Only students/parents may fill out applications; no teacher-filled app’s. $10 nonrefundable app. fee required.
