Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a homicide discovered Wednesday at a home in an unincorporated area of San Pablo, according to the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were dispatched just after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday on a report of a medical call in the 5700 block of Alpine Road, where they found a man dead in his house, sheriff’s officials said. The sheriff’s office has identified the man as 54-year-old Jay Welch. Authorities have not released details describing the manner in which Welch died.
